2010 SANDUSKY SPEEDWAY  STREET STOCK RULES 

 

IMPORTANT NOTICE: The following specifications have been prepared by the Sandusky Speedway officials for the construction of Sandusky Speedway Pure Stock cars.  No express or implied warranty of safety shall result from publications of or compliance with rules.  They are intended as a guide and are in no way a guarantee against injury or death to participants, spectators or others.  No equipment will be considered as having been approved by reason of having passed through inspection unobserved.  Anything not covered by these guidelines should be approved and be placed in writing.  Tech Inspector will have the final decision.
 NOTICE: These rules have been developed for the fun of racing in a low cost fashion.  This requires limits in various areas to keep competition equal and fair for all participants.  In order to accomplish this if it doesn’t say you can – DON’T.  With the help and consideration of the participants, this can be accomplished.  Try to live within the spirit of the rules.  If you have questions, please contact track officials before you are found illegal for competition.
Any car deemed to be unsafe by track officials will not be allowed to compete.
1)    Car Body and Frame
a)  American passenger car with 108-inch wheel base minimum (with a 1” tolerance), full frame or uni-body and must be left stock. Camaros. Firebirds and no Nova rear leaf springs will not be eligible to run.
b)    Due to shortage of used cars, you can use aftermarket firewall and floor pan. this means only 20GA. steel is to be used in the construction of the firewall and floor pan. the drivers compartment may also be boxed in with the 20GA. STEEL ONLY
      
c)    No jeeps, trucks, station wagons, convertibles, vans, four wheel drive cars, or front wheel drive cars,
d)      All doors must be welded.
e)      Front cross member must remain stock and in stock location.  No modifications permitted.
f)        Frames must be stock as from the factory for year/make/model car being used, from front bumper to 4”
behind rear tires with optional tubing replacing remainder of frame to rear bumper.  Mainframe rails may be X
for support, and rusted portions may be plated.  Frame cannot be altered for fuel pump clearance. 
NO OTHER MODIFICATIONS WHATSOEVER!  Frame height minimum 6” should be measured from the ground to the bottom of the entire mainframe rail.  NO TOLERANCE!  Note; Unibody frame cars must be factory for year/make/model car being used in front and back with one exception.  Front and rear frame sections may be tied together with tubing.
g)      Frame may be notched for bigger radiator.
h)       Minimum roof height is 50”.
2.   Appearance
a)     All cars must be factory stock or 5 star steel bodies.  No interchange of sheet                  metal.
b)       All cars must be neat in appearance, neatly lettered, and look like a racecar.
c)        Badly wrecked cars must be fixed.
d)       After market nosepiece and tail are allowed.
e)        No spoilers.
     f)        Fiberglass, aluminum or stock hoods. MUST LOOK STOCK.
3. Windshields and Glass
a)      All side and rear glass removed.
b)      Stock windshield with straps or approved lexan.
c)      All plastic or glass lenses front and rear must be removed.
d)      No rear windows.
e)      No vent windows
f)        No window deflectors
g)      Must have approved window opening for safety. Quarter window is allowed.
 4.    Hoods and Trunks
a)      Hoods and trunks may be gutted.  Hood MUST have a handle to assist for opening.
b)      4-6 pins must be installed.  (See Tech Inspector.)
c)      Cars must have all holes in firewall filled front and rear.
 5)   Bumpers and Grill
a)      You may place two chains between bumper and frame to hold bumper on.
b)      No Camaro or aluminum bumpers (only if covered).
c)      All cars must have tow chain front and rear securely fastened.
 6.      Interior
a)      All upholstery fabric must be removed
b)      Racing seat required.  Seat must be mounted with no less than 4 bolts of 5/16-inch diameter (or larger) and grade 8 material.  Two bolts must securely fasten seat to the seat support bar near the shoulders.  See figure 1.
c)   Can use 20 gauge steel to box in driver compartment.
 7.      Suspension
a)      Front and rear upper and lower control arms must be stock to car and in stock location. After market bushings may be used. NO modifications to upper or lower control arms or mounting points. Tubilur upper must run UBM 14-0809-5 right side/UBM 14-0829-6 left side, must have part number on A-frame.
b)      After market spring may be used.  Must be in stock location. Load bolts in rear, front adjustable shims in front optional. 
c)      No rubbers are allowed. 
d)      Stock sway bars must be used to make of car and mounted in stock location. Stock OEM steering box only. Stock OEM tie rods only and center link must be OEM stock to car.
e)        Stock four wheel-working brakes.  Must stop wheel.  No bias valves. No adjusters. Duel master cylinders allowed. Two-piece stock appearing rotors allowed. NO oversized or undersized rotors. 5 on 5 bolt pattern may be used. Metric cars must run metric spindles & rotors. No bias gauges. Proportioning valve may be used for back brakes only, if using single master cylinder and must be outside driver compartment. Can only be adjusted front to rear in non racing competition, other than that must be out of the driver compartment during racing.
f)      No rear disc brakes. No double piston calipers, NO aluminum calipers, NO undersized or oversized calipers to be used at all.
g)      Shocks must be mounted in stock to car location.  NO spacers may be used anywhere. NO heim or monotube shocks
h)        Shocks must be steel and not adjustable.  
i)        Stock to car OEM spindles and rotors. Metric on metric, GM on GM, Ford on Ford and so on. NO drop spindles allowed.
      j)        Track width, small metric 76 max, full size 77 max.
8.      Weight
a)      Minimum weight 3300 lbs. with driver in the car.  Added weight must be welded or bolted to car. A 305 Block 40 should have a minimum weight of 2880.  (9.3 lbs. per cu. in.)
b)      Maximum 55% left side weight with driver.
c)      Minimum 51% front weight with driver.
d)      All ballast weight must be mounted to frame or floorboards.  No weight on any control arm or axle.  No weight under frame rails between axles.  Weight behind wheels may not be below line of axle. Weight must be painted white and numbered.
 9.      Engines
a)      Centerline of engine must be of equal distance from left and right frame rails. No 18 degree motors or heads
b)      Engine must be US factory production, cast iron block, heads, intake, exhaust. 7 quart max oil pan, must fit chassis NO notching of frame. No modifications allowed.  No vortex heads or angle plug heads.  World Product Head # 4266A and RHS head #12317 will be permitted out of box – no modifications made. Guide plates and stud girdles are allowed.
c)      Flat top pistons only.  May not be above deck height.
d)     OEM Two-barrel cast iron intake manifold only, NO modifications. NO 3” manifolds.  No exhaust spacers.  Center dumps not to exceed 2 ½”. Hydraulic camshaft and hydraulic lifters only.  Stock lifter bores.  No roller cams.  No roller lifters. . Roller rockers are allowed can go as high as 7/16 studs. No high rise 2 bl intakes. No shaft type roller rocker systems.
e)      Engine sizes: GM engines 350 C.I. plus .060 maximum over bore (NO 400 block).  Ford engines 351 C.I. plus .060 maximum over bore.  Mopar engines 360 C.I. plus .060 maximum over bore. No strocker motors, stock stroke only. Steel crankshafts NOT to be UNDER 48 lbs.
f)        Exhaust pipes not to exceed 2 ½” OD and must exit behind driver.  No 2 into 1 mufflers.
g)      Must meet 98 decibel limit
h)      Engine must be in stock location for that year and model car. No notching frame for fuel pump 
10.  Carburetor
a)      Stock production two-barrel only.  Must fit two-barrel intake manifold. Choke plate may be removed. NO AIR FUEL MIXTURE GAUGES AT ALL.
b)  Cold air boxes may NOT protrude through the hood.
c)      Must have two springs to return throttle.
d)      Holley #4412 ONLY (NO Rochester) with 1 inch placer plate ONLY, out of box, NO modifications what so ever to stock metering block for 4412 only, can only remove choke plates
e)      Carburetors must pass gauge test – top and bottom. NO modifications to venturists must have ram air horn on carb.
 11.  Battery Alternator and Ignition
a)      Battery may remain secured in engine compartment.  If moved to drivers compartment, must be mounted inside plastic marine box secured by two metal straps.  May not be mounted in trunk.
b)   No after market distributors unless stock appearing.  No dual point distributors.  No spark boxes. No magnetos. NO modules with adjustable rev limiter with traction control with tack lead-any found will be d.q. ONLY 3 wires coming out of distributor to cap NO 4 wires allowed and only 2 wires coming out of cap power and tack.
c.)   Alternator optional.
 12) Radiator
a)      Must be in good condition and have a minimum 1-gallon overflow can.
b)      Must have fan shroud at least upper 180 degrees.
c)      Electric fans may be used.
d)      NO ANTI FREEZE. IF FOUND WILL BE FINED $50.00. This will be enforced!
 13.   Transmission and Drive Line
a)      Transmission must be approved OEM Automatic with original bell housing and functional torque converter. Metal blanket recommended or 3 or 4 speed manual Saginaw only, with all working gears. Steele blow proof bell housing only. No aluminum. No after market trans or exotic units. NO aluminum trans
b)      No locking of converter. Single disc clutch no smaller than 10.5 inches. No triple disc. Steel fly wheel only, no aluminum no modifications.
c)      Locked rear ends are mandatory.  Mini-spool or welded only, NO lockers or Gold Tracks. NO cambering of rear end at all.
d)      Drive shaft hoops front and rear must be installed.
e)      Ford 9 inch rear end allowed. MUST use stock location upper & lower control arms, NO cutting of any trailing arms. No traction control devices of any kind, IF FOUND USED WILL BE DQ AND LOSE ALL POINTS FOR THE YEAR. No off set of rear end housing.
f.)     No fiberglass or aluminum drive shafts – all steel !!
g.)    5 degree pinion angle max. NO exceptions.
14.   Tires and Wheels
a)      Maximum 8-inch steel wheel of same diameter.
b)      The only acceptable tire is the Hoosier Commanche.  Not to exceed 27.5 x 8 x 15.
c)      Wheels must fit within wheel wells.
d)      No air bleeder valves in wheels.
       e)     Track width, small metric 76, full size 77
15.   Gas Tank
a)      Fuel cells mandatory. Fuel cell must be mounted in trunk and secured to frame by at least 2- 1” steel straps no lowers than center section of rear end.
b)      Racing fuel may be used.  No alcohol.  No additives.
 16.    Safety Items
a)  RADIO MANDATORY.  ONE-WAY RECEIVER ONLY.  ANY COMMUNICATIONS BETWEEN PIT CREW AND DRIVE WILL RESULT IN COMPLETE DISQUALIFICATION AND LOSS OF POINTS FOR THE SEASON.
b)               Roll cage
1)         Minimum four-post cage with 1-3/4 inch by .095 inch wall thickness may pass through firewall.  Diagonal side-to-side bracing.  See figure 2.       
2)         Front and rear hoops may be used.
3)         Must have steel support bar behind driver. 
4)         Extra brace bars recommended behind driver.  May pass through firewall.
5)         Must have a 1/8-inch steel plate between door skin and sidebars.
6)         Minimum of 3-drive side door bars, one bar in passenger side.
7)         Gas tank protection bar mandatory.
c)    Competition shoulder harness and seat belts must be installed to technical inspectors approval.  Seat belts - less than 5 years old - and shoulder harnesses of the 5-point variety must be used and should be bolted to the roll cage structure.  If bolted to the floor of the car use original set belt-mounting plates.   Upper end of the should harness must be securely fastened to metal supports at a point no higher than the drivers shoulders.  See figure 1 for information on installation of the seat belt.
d)   The following safety equipment is mandatory: fire suit, full coverage helmet. 2005 Snell helmet and fire retardant gloves.  Fireproof shoes are strongly recommended.
e)   Open face helmet must wear goggles.
f)    Dry chemical fire extinguisher 2-1/2 lb. minimum in working order must be mounted within easy reach of driver
g)   Drivers side window net mandatory, must be mounted to cage not to body panels.
h.)   Also, any driver that has to be transported will have their car impounded for safety precautions.       
 17.    Misc.
a)      All cars must have contrasting color, 2-foot square area on both sides and roof for assigned number. Roof number to face right side.
b)      Must have 4-inch car number (digits) in top center of windshield.
c)      Any items not covered should be checked with technical inspectors.
d)      All cars can be inspected or torn down at any time by technical inspectors at owner’s expense. Cars may be impounded for tech inspection at anytime.
e)  Must have a hook, chain or eyebolt welded to front and rear of the car.  If car does not have these and      must be hooked on track, you may be disqualified for the rest of the night at the discretion of track officials.
f) No mirrors.
Technical inspector decisions are final.
 The belts should not be allowed to run down your back below shoulder height before crossing through the shoulder harness slot of the seat or to permit the belt to run across the bony structure at the perimeter of the shoulder.  The shoulder belt should be routed through the holes provided in the seat and across the cage tube to provide the best control of location of the belt.
 NOTICE: Anything not covered by the preceding rules or safety regulations should be checked with Tech. Inspector before it is done.  Any decision on questionable items about cars is up to the Inspector and his decision is Final!!!
                        If you have any question as to changing or modifying or in building your car, and the rule book does not cover what you are doing, please contact a Sandusky Speedway official before making changes.  Build it right the first time.
 REMEMBER:  Sandusky Speedway and its officials reserve the right to change specifications/procedures and add/or subtract cars to the field at anytime.  Those who sign-in and/or start in an event agree to be governed by these rules and by all decisions of the Speedway and its officials. Track officials reserve the right to confiscate any part or parts deemed by their officials to be outside the rules, this includes any part of the race car at anytime.
  THE USE OF ANY TRACTION CONTROL DEVICE  i.e. MSD GOLDEN EAGLE ect. WILL RESULT IN LOSE OF POINTS FOR THE ENTIRE SEASON

2010 SANDUSKY SPEEDWAY BUCKEYE SUPER SPRINT RULES
IMPORTANT:  The following specifications have been prepared by Sandusky Speedway as guidelines for the construction of a 305 Sprint. No warranty of safety is expressed or implied as a result of this publication of rules. These rules are intended as a guide and are in no way a guarantee against injury or death to participants, spectators, or others. Anything not covered by these specifications should be approved by the track officials and placed in writing. Common developments in auto racing and technology may mandate changes in these specifications. However, it is our intent to enforce and police these rules throughout the season. If a change is necessary, technical bulletins will be prepared and distributed in advance.
NOTICE: This division is being developed for the fun of racing in a low cost fashion. This requires limits in various areas to keep competition equal and fair for all participants. In order to accomplish this, if it doesn’t say you CAN, DON’T. With the help and consideration of the participants this can be accomplished. Try to live within the spirit of the rules. If you have questions, please contact track officials before you are found illegal for competition.
CHASSIS
1.        Frame and body (including fuel tank) must be sprint car appearing.
2.         Maximum front end offset is 39 inches (measured from the center of the frame to the outside of the right front tire).
3.         From the right side, the front axle to the end of the nose cannot be more than 23".
4.         Maximum right rear offset is 43 inches (measured from the center of the frame to the outside of the right rear tire).
            Nerf bar must be within 2” from side wall in and even to the sidewall out of both rear tires.
5.         Engine, drive line, and rear end center section must be mounted on centerline of frame.
6.         Left side radius rods and torsion bars (if used) must run on outside of frame.
7.        Rear end may use a Jacob’s ladder mounted on the right side of frame and must be attached to the right side of bird cage.  Panhard bars optional.
8.        Nerf bars on both sides and front and rear bumpers are required.
9.        (Front spindles) Steel recommended no titanium.
10.          Rear end lower shaft may be steel or titanium.
11.        No open drive lines allowed. Aluminum torque tubes are allowed as well as aluminum rear axles. Torque tube hoop is required.
      12.         No carbon fiber or titanium allowed anywhere on car. No aluminum bolts.
STEERING
1.         Any steering is legal.
2.          Steering wheels must have a quick release hub. It is recommended that pin style hubs be marked so rescue workers can easily locate the pin.
3.          Drag link tether mandatory.
WINGS AND BODY PANELS
1.          Top wing is mandatory. Only standard sprint car wings allowed. No supermodified style wings.
2.         25 square feet maximum area. Maximum width is 61 inches. Minimum width is 54 inches.
3.         Maximum side board size is 30 X 72 inches.
4.         No hydraulic wing sliders allowed. Wing cannot be adjustable from the cockpit of car. NO pneumatic air cylinders allowed.
5.         Front or nose wings are allowed, but are not mandatory.
6.          Maximum nose wing size is 6 square feet. Maximum width is 37 inches.
7.         Front air dams may be no wider than the frame.
8.          No aerodynamic surfaces or panels outside of mainframe rails, except for top wing and nose wing per specs.
9.          No more than 1inch lip on rock panel behind driver.
10.       Only two vertical lips or rails may be on the hood surface and may be no    more than 1 inch high.
FUEL
1.         Methanol only. NO gasoline, nitro, or nitrous oxide.
2.         ANY car, at discretion of technical inspector, may be required to drain their fuel cell and refill it with fuel provided at the track. Failure to comply is grounds for immediate disqualification.
3.         No additives of any kind, except for approved top oil.
WHEELS
1.         Wheels must be steel. No aluminum or magnesium center or wide-5 wheels allowed. ALUMINUM WHEEL WILL BE PERMITTED ON RIGHT REAR ONLY. Safety pins are required in the outer ends of the rear axle to keep nut from coming off.
2.          No pressure pop off bleeders allowed.
3.          Front wheels cannot be wider than 10 inches. 
TIRES 
      1.         Hoosier tires required.  See size and compound chart included.
2.         No chemical treating of tires to soften compound allowed.
3.         You must start the feature on the RIGHT REAR TIRE you qualify on. This tire must be on the RIGHT REAR at the start of the feature.
4.          If a tire is damaged as a result of an accident or becomes flat on the racing surface, it shall be replaced only with a tire that has been previously stenciled. (The first event is excluded).  If a new unmarked or unlabeled tire is used in the feature, the tire must be approved by a track official prior to the start of the feature. If approved, the car will start at the tail of the field. 
5.         ANY car found with an unmarked or an unapproved tire, illegal compound, transferred or reproduced markings or labels, or markings or labels not placed on the tire by track officials shall be disqualified and the owner and driver shall NOT receive any prize money or points for that event.
6.         NO  USED TIRES ARE TO BE LEFT ON SPEEDWAY PROPERTY!!!!

6. b. M50 will be the only right rear tire allowed. The 2045 & 2010 can be used on either side of the front end.
ENGINES
***As for Engine rule changes... all aluminum head motors shall be 11 to 1 max compression. All aluminum heads may be angle milled.  We are going to be teching motors very seriously this year and anyone pumped under 305 will be torn down.  Anyone refusing will be disqualified
1.         All engines must be G.M. 305 cid V8's. The block must be stock production type with maximum .060 overbore for 3.796" maximum bore. Engine must have all casting numbers for identification purposes. The block must be completely stock appearing on the outside. All engines must have flat top  pistons on G.M. stock appearing I-Beam connecting rods 5.7” or 6 ‘ (steel only). All crankshafts will be stock G.M. 305 cast iron shafts with 3.48"  stroke or stock stroke cranks manufactured by Scat (Part # 10442) or callies comp star crank. Information on Scat cranks, please contact (Paul Kistler). Pistons cannot protrude out of the block. Polishing of the sides of the rod I-beam will be permitted.  GM Steel Crank #3941184 and #1409036 are permitted.
2.         Cylinder heads must be stock G.M. 305 cast iron or the Brodix spec aluminum or All Pro 305 aluminum head. Brodix head and All Pro head must be used out of box. No work of any kind is allowed. No match porting allowed.  For information on the aluminum head, contact French Grimes (540-923-4541) or Hickernell Engineering (614-855-2290). Steel heads must meet the following specs:
No porting or polishing allowed.
The intake and exhaust ports may be matched for the first 1/4" only.
Head STUDS allowed.
No new style center bolt valve cover heads permitted.
All legal heads will have "U" shaped marking on the front or rear and inside the valve cover area for verification. This mark is cast onto the surface and must be visible to be legal.  Do not disturb the stock combustion chamber.
3.         Roller rocker arms permitted. Rocker arms can be stock type or can be roller tipped. Valve springs must be straight and stock diameter (1.26") with original 305 stock steel retainers.  Screw-in rocker studs (7/16" maximum diameter) push rod guide plates and stud girdles are permitted. Single valve spring. 
4.         No grinding or defacing on the outside of the block is permitted. No roller lifters, no roller hydraulics lifter are permitted. Only hydraulic or solid lifters acceptable. All lifters must be stock diameter (0.842).
5.         Any ignition system may be used.
6.         Battery must be mounted in the engine compartment and be fully enclosed  in a    spill proof plastic box. The battery box must be solidly fastened and be approved by the tech director. A gel-filled battery is recommended.
7.         Battery may be located behind or under the seat if it is a DRY battery. Note-This does NOT include gel-cells.
8.          The oil system must be a wet sump system. No dry sump systems will be allowed. The oil pan must have an inspection hole of 1 1/8" minimum diameter and 1/2 inch maximum extension. Location is optional, but the tech director must be able to view the connecting rods.
9.         Maximum fuel injection size permitted is 2 3/16 with all fuel lines in the manifold. No down nozzles allowed. 1 injector per cylinder.
10.       No carburetors or carburetor style injections allowed. Stacks must be removable for tech inspection. To make it easier for the tech director to remove a lifter, there must be a 1 1/4" minimum ID hole in the front of the injection.
11.      No rev kits will be allowed.
12.      Functional mufflers are mandatory.
13.      Officials and tech director will have the right to check engines at any time and will have the final say in determining the eligibility of any engine.
SAFETY
The following safety equipment is mandatory.
1.         Fire suits of at least one fire resistant layer, underwear, socks, gloves, and shoes.
2.         Helmets of Snell 2000 or newer.
3.         Arm restraints.
4.         Roll bar padding on all top bars above driver.
5.         On board fire system is strongly recommended
6.         Side head restraints are strongly recommended.
7.          Approved head restraints are MANDATORY. Approved head restraints are Hans, Hutchinsons, D-Cell, G-Force & Hewitt. Questions on other brands, call the track for approval.
8.         A check valve is required in the fuel tank breather to prevent escape of fuel if the car is up side down.
9.         A shut off valve is required in the main fuel line from tank to pump as close as possible to the tank.
 INSPECTIONS
1.         All competing cars will be subject to technical inspection every night throughout the season at any time.       
2.         Any car not conforming to the specifications will be subject to one or more of the following:
a.   Car may be disqualified, forfeiting all points for the season, plus any money and points earned that night.
b.   The severity of punishment will be decided upon by Sandusky Speedway officials.
3.          All cars are subject to safety inspections by officials. Workmanship and appearance shall be a determining factor whether officials permit the car to enter competition.
4.         In all protests or inspections, it is the driver’s duty to prove his legality, not the officials to prove the violation.
5.         All drivers must race at least 3 races to be able to protest another driver in their division.  All protests must be brought to the Event Director's or Head Technical Staff's attention 15 minutes prior to the feature. No exceptions.  For the first 2 weeks, there will no protesting at all for anyone.

 2010 SANDUSKY SPEEDWAY SPORTSMAN RULES

IMPORTANT NOTICE: The following specifications have been prepared by the Sandusky Speedway officials as guidelines for the construction of Sportsman racecars.  No express or implied warranty of safety shall result from publications of, or compliance with rules.  They are intended as a guide and are in no way a guarantee against injury or death to participants, spectators or others.

 No equipment will be considered as having been approved by reason of having passed through inspection unobserved.  Anything not covered by these guidelines should be approved by the Event Director or Tech Inspector and be placed in writing.  Tech Inspector will have the final decision. These rules have been developed for the fun of racing in a low cost fashion.  This requires limits in various areas to keep competition equal and fair for all participants.  In order to accomplish this, if it doesn’t say you can.  – DON’T! With the help and consideration of the participants, this can be accomplished.  Try to live within the spirit of the rules.  If you have questions, please contact track officials before you are found illegal for competition.
 Any car deemed to be unsafe by track officials will not be allowed to complete.
  1.      ELIGIBILITY
a)      No F body or uni-body cars.
b)      Any American made hard top perimeter frame 4-coil automobile with a minimum stock wheelbase of 108 inches.
c)      No jeeps, station wagons, convertibles, vans, four wheel drive cars, or front wheel drive cars.
  2.      APPEARANCE
a)      All body parts must be securely mounted.  Hood and deck lid must be securely fastened in 4 corners by hood pins or hinges.
b)      Approved wrecker quick hookups mandatory at both ends.
c)      All glass must be removed except front and rear windshield, which must be safety glass or minimum 1/8” lexan, with minimum of 2 supports secured at top and bottom.  No unapproved view obstructing materials in or on windshield (no tinting, names, etc.).  Front windshield and hood must follow contours of factory stock body style appearance.  Maximum 2” rise to radius hood. Right side window must have accessible opening.
d)      Firewalls and floorboards must have all holes filled.
e)      Doors must be welded shut.
f)        Bumpers must be stock and in stock location.
g)      Rub rails, tight against the sheet metal are permitted, provided there are no rough or sharp edges, and may not be larger than 1 by 1-1/2 inches, or lexan rub rails from 5 Star.
h)      All cars must have complete steel body from bumper to bumper and be factory stock appearing in dimension and contour.  After-market bodies from (Five-Star) in steel; aluminum, or fiberglass is permitted.  These bodies MUST be in every way factory stock appearing as if car were being shown on the dealer showroom floor!  NO EXCEPTIONS!  No flat sides or homemade bodies permitted.  All cars must have complete factory stock appearing hood and rear deck lid with hood pins, bumpers, grills and roof in top quality condition.  Optional factory stock after-market truck bodies will be permitted.  Also, a weight break/penalty may be assessed during an evaluation period.
        I ) Must be under five star specs.
        j) Spoiler with a maximum width of (66") and (5") in material.  No spillboards or         verticals allowed.  No aid ducts or dams permitted under car.  Spoilers brace material no      more than (1”) in vertical height.
   3.      Chassis
a)      Stock frames must have minimum of 5” clearance under main frame.
b)      Front frame section must be stock.  You can notch cross member for fuel pump and oil pan only.
c)      Frames must extend from front bumper to rear control arm mounts.  They may be reinforced.
d)      Minimum wheel base is 108”.  Any Ford or Chevy frame can be shortened in front of rear trailing arms to 108”.
e)      Car tire width measured from outside of front or rear tires, outer sidewall to outer sidewall maximum 77”.
f)        One weight jack per wheel.
g)      Under slung frames are allowed. No coil overs, no offset chassis.
 4.      Brakes
Hydraulic type operating all four wheels at all times.  (4) wheel disc brakes are optional.  Brake inspection and/or test may be required at any time.  All non-traction control devices intended for limit wheel slip is prohibited.  No wiring of any type permitted to front/rear wheels or suspension. Can run after market brakes. 4 piston calipers allowed.
  5.      Weight
a)      All weights & percentages with driver in the car at any time.
b)      Weight 3100 lb., IF using camaro front clip or under slung weight is 3200 lbs. 58% left side for camaro front clip cars. If you run BOTH camaro front clip and under slung you have to run 54% left side and 3200lbs. Must run stock          contour frame from front spring pocket back to trailing arms mount. Stock OEM 4-link rear suspension weight is 3000 lb. (see 7. b.) 
c)      Maximum 58% left side weight with driver.
d)      No tolerance for fuel usage on any weight.
e)      No added weight lower than fuel cell or below frame on side rails.
f.)     Weight must be painted white and have car number on the weight.
 6.      Front Suspension
a)      Upper A-Frames may be tubular.  Upper A-Frame mounting optional.  Lower A-Frames must be original stock manufactured for that frame and mounted on proper original side.
b)      Hubs and spindles must be steel.  No cut and welded or homemade spindles. Drilled spindles are allowed. Drop or after market spindles are ok. NO WIDE 5’s.
c)      Heavy duty studs must be used 9/16 diameter minimum with thread showing past nuts.
d)      Steering must be a passenger car type OEM steering box.  No rack and pinion. After market sway bars & centerlink are permitted
7.      Rear Suspension
a)      Rear ends must be U.S. Factory production type, or factory floater.
b)      Stock lower & upper trailing arms must be used and must be mounted in stock locations on frame. (For 4 link weight is 3000 lb)
c)      Upper trailing arms and panard bars, mounting optional. (for 3-link)
d)      Racing type shock absorbers permitted, one per wheel  (steel and non-adjustable).
e)      No coilovers allowed.  No cambering of rear wheels.
f)        Tubular upper/lower trailing arms may be used, on 3 link suspension.
8.      Engine
a)      Centerline of engine must be of equal distance from left and right frame rails.
b)      Engine set back may be no more than the #1 spark plug in line with the centerline of the upper ball joint.
c)      Engine must be US factory production, cast iron block, heads, intake, and exhaust.  After market oil pans must fit chassis.
d)      Maximum 3.500 stroke crank only, no 400 cranks, no stroker engines.  Engines are limited as follows:
1)      GM engines 350 C.I. plus .060 maximum over bore (NO 400 block)
2)      Ford engines 351 C.I. plus .060 maximum over bore.
3)      Mopar engines 360 C.I. plus .060 maximum over bore.
NO 18 DEGREE HEADS OR MOTORS
e)      Heads and manifolds must be stock unmodified.   No high-rise two barrel manifolds.  Optional Edelbrock Victor Jr. (No porting or polishing, No work, out of box) Manifold part #2975 or #2901 with no carb spacer allowed. Only cast intake allowed will be 2-barrel. Edelbrock manifold out of box – no port matching on intake
f)      Any steel head is permitted, NO nascar or exotic heads like trick flow.   
g)      Headers are legal. Pipe size is not to exceed 1 ¾ in. O.D. The only over the top header permitted will be Schoenfeld #146.
h)      Exhaust pipes must extend behind the driver.  Must be equipped with in line functional mufflers.  Must meet a 98-decibel limit.
i)        Roller rockers are allowed.
j)        Solid lifter cams may be used. NO shaft type roller rocker systems of any kind, No mushroom lifter.  Roller cams are allowed.
k)      Ignition coil must be stock appearing.  GM must use GM.  Ford must use Ford     manufacturer production. Box only, or same production MSD box, NO gold box. MSD box can be any 6 or 6AL box.
l)        Distributor must be stock appearing.  After market distributors are allowed. No magnetos allowed.
    m)       Holley 4412 500 CFM carburetor.  No work on venturi or throttle bore.  Must     pass 1.375-inch venturi no go gauge, and 1.6875-inch throttle bore gauge.  Only the choke plate and shaft may be removed.  1-inch maximum adapter plate allowed.  Must have two springs to return throttle. Unmodified stock to make two-barrel may be used.
n)      A metal air cleaner is required and it may not protrude through the hood.
o)      Must have a metal or aluminum shield covering the upper 180 degrees of the fan.  Electric Fans are permitted.
p)      No electric fuel pump.
 9.      Radiator
a)      Radiator must be in stock location.
b)      Overflow can MUST be used.
c)      Any additional Heater Core or cooler must be within engine compartment.
d)      Air deflector can be no lower than 5 inches below radiator core. Must be enclosed unit.
e)      NO ANTI FREEZE . IF FOUND WITH ANTI FREEZE YOU WILL BE FINED $50.
  10.  Clutch
a)      The clutch assembly must be stock, 10” min.  No aluminum flywheel, pressure plate, hub, no multiple disc assembly.
b)      Stock aluminum bell housing must be replaced with blow proof type steel for safety reasons.
11.  Transmission
a)      Stock OEM transmission must be used.  Reverse must be operable. NO exotic units at all. 
b)      Automatic transmission. Must have fully operational torque converter.  No racing converter.  No direct drives. Must have approved metal blanket.
c)      A safety strap must be attached underneath the front half of the drive shaft.
  12.  Rear Ends
a)      No after market rear end units of any kind.
b)      Rear ends must be locked. NO cambering of rear end
c)      Ford 9 inch may be used in GM and Mopar cars but must use GM or Mopar mounting points on frame and rear end.
d)      After market axles maybe used.
e.)      No gold track or similar device allowed.
  13.  Wheels / Tires
a)      Maximum track width of 77 inches front or rear.
b)      Any steel wheel up to 8 inch may be used.  The right front wheel must be of a safety design.
c)      Clip on wheel weights must be glued or siliconed and be fully taped and must be on the inside of wheel, NOT ON THE OUTSIDE.
d)      Hoosier Commanche 27.5 x 8 x 15 maximum.
  14.  Fuel Cell
a)      Fuel cells are mandatory.  They must be safely and securely mounted.  No lower than the bottom of the rear center housing.
b)      No plastic oil or fuel lines.  Fuel lines must run under floorboard, or inside a protected tube.
 14.    Fuel
a)      Pump gasoline, avgas or racing type gasoline only.
b)      No methanol, No nitro, No nitrous oxide systems.
 15.    Safety Guidlines
a)      RADIOS MANDATORY.  ONE-WAY RECEIVER ONLY.  ANY COMMUNICATIONS BETWEEN PIT CREW AND DRIVER WILL RESULT IN COMPLETE DISQUALIFICATION AND LOSS OF POINTS FOR THE SEASON.
b)      Cage
1)      Must make use of a six-point cage, welded to the frame of the car.  A minimum of 3 door bars on the driver’s side is required
2)      Minimum roll cage to be 1-3/4 inches x .095 inches.
3)      Minimum 1/8-inch steel plate between door skin and sidebars.
c)      All portions of the roll cage that could come in contact with the driver’s helmet and all driver’s side door bars shall be covered with Pro-Tecto roll cage padding.
d)      An approved bucket seat must be installed and be properly anchored to points other than the floorboard.  Seat must be positioned inside of the frame rails.
e)      Seat belts and shoulder harnesses of the 5 point variety must be used and must be bolted to the roll cage structure only and not to the floor of the car.  Lap belt, and should harnesses are to be 3 inches in width.  Upper end of the shoulder harness must be securely fastened to metal supports at a point no higher than the driver’s shoulders.  Seat belts must be of an approved type of quick release nylon belt.  See figure 1 for information on installation of the seat belts. Seatbelts can be no older than 5 years.
f)        Cars must be equipped with an approved and padded headrest.
g)      Driver’s side window net mandatory, must be mounted to cage not to body panels.
h)      The following safety equipment is mandatory: fire suit, full coverage helmet (meeting Snell 05 or later standards) and fire retardant gloves.  Fireproof shoes are strongly recommended. Neck collars are mandatory unless head restraint device is used.
i)        Open face helmet must wear goggles.
j)        Small dry chemical type fire extinguishers are mandatory, must be located within easy reach of the driver, and are securely mounted.
k)      The battery inside the driver’s compartment must be fully enclosed by a steel box.  A plastic marine box must be framed in steel.  Battery cannot be located within the trunk area.
  16.  Misc.
a)      Must have numbers at least 24 inches on both doors, and the roof, and can consist of no more than 2 digits.  Numbers only.
b)      Must have 4-inch car number (digits) in top center of windshield.
c)      No mirrors.
d)      Must have a hook, chain or eye bolt welded to the front and rear of the car.
e)      Any car can be torn down at owner’s expense. Car may be impounded at any time.
 NOTICE:        Anything not covered by the preceding rules or safety regulations should be checked with Tech. Inspector before it is done.  Any decision on questionable items about cars is up to the Inspector and his decision is Final!!! If you have any question as to changing or modifying or in building your car, and the rule book does not cover what you are doing, please contact a Sandusky Speedway official before making changes.  Build it right the first time.
REMEMBER:  Sandusky Speedway and its officials reserve the right to change specifications/procedures and add/or subtract cars to the field at anytime.  Those who sign-in and/or start in an event agree to be governed by these rules and by all decisions of the Speedway and its officials. Track officials reserve the right to confiscate any parts deemed by their officials to be outside the rules. This includes any part of the race car at anytime. THESE RULES SUPERCEDE ALL OTHERS.  THEUSE OF ANY TRACTION CONTROL DEVICE  i.e. MSD GOLDEN EAGLE ect. WILL RESULT IN LOSS OF ALL POINTS FOR THE SEASON

2010 SANDUSKY SPEEDWAY MODIFIED RULES

Note: Sanctioning body and/or track does not express or implies any warranty of safety resulting from the publication of or compliance with these rules and/or regulations. These rules are intended as a guide to conduct this sport and are not in any way a guarantee against injury or death to any participant, spectator or official.
  1. SAFETY EQUIPMENT: Snell-rated SA2005 helmet required. Roll bar padding required in drivers compartment (fire retardant highly recommended). SFI full fire suit required. Fire retardant neck brace, gloves and shoes required. (Fire retardant head sock and underwear, head and neck restraints; collapsible steering shaft; highly recommended). Driver side window net required, and must be mounted so that the latch is at the top front of window. Minimum three inch wide, five point safety belt assembly required, must be mounted securely to the role cage. ( Highly recommended to be no more the 3 years old). Fire bottle system required. (A separate, heat activated, fire bottle on the fuel cell is highly recommended). Kill switch required within easy reach of driver and must be marked ‘OFF’ and ‘ON’.
  2. FRAME: 1964 or newer OEM perimeter American made rear wheel drive passenger car frame only. (Reproduction 68-72 Chevelle frames are approved). No sports car frames. No 2002 & up Ford Crown Vic or similar frames allowed. No strut front suspension of any kind allowed. No tube clips allowed. Frame must be full and complete, cannot be widened or narrowed, and must be able to support roll cage on both sides. EXCEPTIONS: Weight jack in original center line of spring tower; frame may be cut a maximum 36 inches forward from center of rear housing; horns may be removed in front of steering box; front crossmember may be notched and boxed for radiator and/or steering clearance; maximum 7 inch wide opening in side of spring tower for spring removal. OEM upper A mounts may be replaced with aftermarket mounts. Maximum 4 inch wide by 4 inch tall frame stiffener may be welded directly to outside of left OEM frame rail. Left side OEM frame rail may be notched for seat and foot clearance. Minimum wheelbase 108 inches, maximum 112 inches, both sides. Maximum overall width, front and rear, shall no exceed 79 inches from outside of tire, to outside of tire. No part of frame or body shall be lower than 4 inches from ground, except the front crossmember, in race trim.
  3. ROLL CAGE: Must consist of continuous hoops, minimum 1.75 inch O.D. tubing, with a minimum wall thickness of .095 inch for the main cage. Frame mounted in at least 6 places, low carbon or mild steel recommended. Must consist of a configuration of front, rear, and top hoops connected by tubing on the sides or side hoops. Drivers head must not protrude outside cage with helmet on. Roll cage must be securely supported and braced with minimum 1 cross bar in top halo. Foot protection bar(s) required. Main cage no further forward than rear of engine. All bars forward of the cage must be lower than the hood.
  4. DOOR BARS: All driver side door bars and uprights must be a minimum 1.75 inch and .095 inch wall thickness. Minimum 4 driver side door bars, parallel to the ground and perpendicular to the driver, and welded to the front and rear roll cage. Passenger side must have at least 1 cross door bar, horizontal or angled, and 1 top door bar, minimum 1.5 inch O.D. steel door plate, 16 gauge (.065) minimum thickness, must be securely welded to outside of the driver side door bars and cover the area from top door bar to bottom door bar and from rear hoop down post to front cage down post.
  5. BODY: (SEE DIAGRAM) must be same width, front to rear, and parallel to the OEM frame. Engine compartment must remain open on both sides. Hood must be enclosed at rear. No panel in front of right door to engine compartment. No inner panels. Must have front windshield support and rear window support posts. Driver and passenger side windows must have at least 12 inch opening (height & width), measured at enter of window, between lowest point at top of window, weather roof or roll cage, and the highest point at bottom of window, weather interior or body. May use Lexan in sail panels. No full windshields. ROOFS ARE OPTIONAL. Roofs must be fiberglass or aluminum (no carbon fiber) full size, rounded and stock appearing (no flat roofs). Must run full upper and lower nose. No plastic body parts. EXCEPTION: Howe part #’s 622 & 624 are the only approved plastic body parts. No wings or aero dynamic devices inside or outside the car. Outside of tires must be the widest part of car. Quarter panels and B/C pillars must be 2 distinct pieces. Oil coolers/radiator must not protrude above interior or outside of body. (Spoiler:) A 4 inch by 66 inch spoiler 45 degrees to the deck is allowed, lexan only, no exceptions, no lettering on spoiler.
  6. DRIVER COMPARTMENT: Must have a minimum 3 windshield bars in front of the driver. Lexan or aluminum cowl panel in front of the driver can be no wider than the cockpit and no farther back than the steering wheel. Minimum .125 inch aluminum, or 22 (.035 inch) gauge steel, complete floor pan required. Aluminum high back seat only and must be bolted in securely, inside the left OEM frame and ahead of the rear tires. Bottom of seat can be no lower than bottom of frame. (NASCAR style right and left head, shoulder supports and let restraints highly recommended). Driver must be sealed off from track,driveline, engine, fuel cell, battery and pumps. No driver adjustable devices allowed in cockpit except brake adjusters.
  7. FRONT SUSPENSION: All components must be steel, unaltered OEM, in OEM location, and replaceable by OEM parts. EXCEPTIONS: Tube type upper A frames with or without aluminum or steel cross shaft, and mounts can be moved; stamped steel OEM replacement lower A frames; rubber, nylon, or steel lower A frame bushings; no offset bushings; welded or bolted shock mounts on lower A frames; (No fabricated lower A frames); Lower A frames must be right and left and of the same design. Lower A frame mounts and bolt holes on frame must be in OEM location no modifications and no adjustments on lower A frames or frame mounts AT ALL, OEM type ball joints only. Sway bar must be OEM type, no splined bars. Track width 79”
  8. STEERING: No rack and pinion. All components must be steel, unaltered OEM, in OEM location. EXCEPTIONS: tie rod ends and adjuster sleeves may be replaced by a minimum .625 inch steel rod ends and steel tubes; OEM spindles can be modified for ball joints and tie rod ends; passenger car drop spindles allowed; (No made for racing or fabricated spindles.) Bold on spindle saver allowed; spindles must be right and left, and of the same design; steel steering shafts and knuckles only; steering quickener, steering wheel and quick release may be aluminum; driver compartment steering may be modified, but must be kept on left side. OEM center link or OEM after market type center links allowed
  9. SHOCKS: Shocks must be, non-adjustable, with No external canisters, and have a racer price of less than $250.00 New per shock. 1 shock per wheel. 1 additional shock allowed in the lift/pull bar area. No air shocks. All shock covers must be easily removed NO rubber motorcycle covers allowed.
  10. SPRINGS: Steel coil and leaf springs allowed. Coil springs must be at least 4.5 inches O.D. No torsion bars or air bags. EXCEPTION: Pull bar may utilize smaller O.D. springs.
  11. REAR SUSPENSION: No independent rear suspension. All components must be steel. No covers allowed. All trailing arms/link bars must be made of steel tubing. Rear of frame may be altered to accept leaf or coil springs. Steel coil-over eliminators, and steel or aluminum (5”) coil-over kits allowed on the rear only. Must conform to shock and spring rules. One (1) mechanical traction bar only. No rear sway bars. Aluminum panard bar adjuster allowed. Track width 79”.
  12. REAR END: Any steel approved OEM passenger car or truck rear end allowed. Closed, steel tube Quick change allowed. Safety hubs (floater) mandatory. Steel axles only. No cambered rear ends. One (1) piece drive flange only. All components must be steel. EXCEPTION: lowering blocks, axle caps, rotor plates, and drive flanges. 
  13. BUMPERS: (See diagram) Steel bumpers must be on front and rear at all times and welded or bolted securely to the frame. Must be a minimum 1.25 inch O.D. tubing, .065 wall thickness. Two bar front bumper must be mounted frame end to frame end, no wider than with of OEM frame horns. Bottom loop must be parallel to the ground. Top bar must be directly above bottom bar, minimum 6.5 inches apart, measured center to center. Aluminum I-beam rear bumper are allowed. No sharp edges.
  14. WHEELS: Eight (8) inch steel wheel only, measured from inside bead to inside bead. No bead locks, screws, or rim mounted bleeder valves. Steel and aluminum wheel spacers are allowed.
  15. TIRES: No softening, soaking, conditioning, siping, or grooving of tires. No re-caps. SOAKING OF TIRES IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED. (This rule applies to ALL tires in the pits, on the car, in the trailer or hauler, ALL tires). Tires may be checked at any time. Hoosier 970 is only tire allowed.
  16. BRAKES: Must be steel OEM type, operative on all 4 wheels, drum or disc. Must maintain minimum OEM dimensions for hub/rotor and calipers, cannot be drilled or lightened. Bolt pattern may be changed. Larger studs allowed. Rear rotors may be aftermarket, minimum .810 inch thick, vented rotors only. NO scalloped or drilled rotors.
  17. EXHAUST: Round tube headers only. All primary tubes must enter into 1 collector, at the end of the header. Must meet 98 disciple rule.
  18. FUEL SYSTEM: Mechanical or belt driven pump only and must be mounted on front of motor. Racing fuel cell required 22 gallon maximum capacity, square or rectangle in shape (no tear drop, wedge, or exotic F-1 type fuel cells allowed). Must be in a minimum 22 gauge steel container. Cell must be securely mounted behind the rear axles and between the rear tires. Cell must be no lower than bottom of rear end housing. Cell must be mounted with a minimum 2 solid steel strap around the entire cell, 2 inches wide and .125 inches thick or equivalent. All cell mounts must be steel and securely welded past both ends of the cell. No part of the cell is to be lower than the protective tubing. Vents and lids must have check valves. Fuel line pick up must be on top to cell. No cool cans and (1) fuel filter only.
  19. FUEL: Racing gasoline or alcohol allowed.
  20. WEIGHT: Minimum weight limit of 2,400 pounds, 1000 pounds right side or 58% left side. (NO tolerance), after race with driver and helmet in car sitting in normal driving position. Weights must be securely mounted with at least (2) half inch bolts to frame or roll cage, and painted white with car number on it. No weight outside of the body. No titanium, carbon fiber, or exotic materials used on race car. No gun-drilled, tubular, hollow bolts or studs. Steel fasteners only.
  21. BATTERY/STARTER: One 12/16 volt battery only, must be securely mounted between frame rails, behind crossmember, in front of rear end and outside of driver cockpit, with positive terminal covered. Car must have the capacity of starting without being pushed or pulled. Standard or reverse mount starters allowed.
  22. GAUGES/ELECTRONICS: No electronic monitoring computer devices capable of storing or transmitting information. EXCEPTION: Analog tach. No adjustable ignition control boxes. One (1) 12/16 volt ignition box allowed, with rev chip, must be out of reach of driver. No additional ignition accessories allowed. No magnetos. No traction control devices of and kind, IF FOUND ON CAR WILL RESULT IN LOSS OF ALL POINTS FOR SEASON AND DQ
  23. TRANSMISSION: Must have at least two forward gears and one reverse, plus a neutral position. With engine running and car in still position, must be able to engage car in gear and move forward, then backward. OEM production type or approved aftermarket transmissions (Bert, Brinn, Falcon allowed. 2-speed, 3-speed 4-speed and automatic). No 5-speeds or more transmissions, No ‘in and ‘out boxes allowed. Standard clutch type transmissions must have a blow proof bell housing (steel or aluminum). Automatic transmissions must have an approved scattershield.
  24. DRIVE SHAFT: Minimum 2.5 inch diameter, steel drive shaft, painted white. Steel slip-yokes only. 360 degree drive shaft loop required and must be constructed of at least .25 inch by 2 inch steel or equivalent, mounted 6 inches back from front u-joint.
  25. ENGINE COMPARTMENT: Rear of engine must be mounted at least 72 inches forward from centerline of rear axle. Engine offset must be kept within 2 inches of centerline of front crossmember with engine level. Minimum 11 inches from centerline of crank shaft to ground. Radiator must be mounted in front of engine. Cooling system may be modified. No anti-freeze.
  26. ENGINE: Any American make engine allowed. Steel block. No machine work on the outside of block (lightening). Wet sump oiling system only. One (1) naturally aspirated two or four barrel carburetor only. NO fuel injection No magnetos.
  27. NUMBERS / DECALS: All numbers shall be in contrasting color from body, affixed to both doors and top, be at least 4 inches thick and 20 inches tall, and be readable from the passenger side of car.
  28. OVERALL: (A) Track reserves the right to change, modify, add or delete to these rules as they deem necessary to ensure fair, competitive, and affordable racing. (B) Track reserves the right to confiscate any part or parts deemed by their Officials to be outside the rules. This to include tires, or any part(s) of any race car, at any event, at any time. (C) E.I.R.I. (except in rare instances) All decisions of the Officials are final and binding without exception.
  29. GENERAL COMPETITION: (A) Drivers shall be responsible for the conduct and actions of all crew members, and any unsportsmanlike conduct shall be grounds for disqualification or punitive action as determined by Sanctioning body and/or track. Sanctioning body and/or track shall have the authority to disqualify members and assess fines. (B) All discussions with Officials shall be conducted in a professional manner and at a proper distance. (C) Drivers under the age of 18 must produce a signed parental consent form by parent or legal guardian. (D) Sanctioning body and/or track may require, at its option, a competitor(s) to under go a physical or drug testing before said individual(s) are allowed to compete.
  30. NO MIRRORS OR TWO WAY RADIOS, NO EXCEPTIONS.

 SAFETY: Racing seat is mandatory and approved safety helmet with a 2005-snell rating or later will only be permitted.  No shorty type helmets permitted.   All drivers must wear a FULL RACING SUIT and GLOVES.  A 2-1/2 lb. (minimum) DRY CHEMICAL FIRE EXTINGUISHER with gauge in working order at all times must be mounted within reach of driver.  Driver side racing window nets are mandatory with quick release at top of window.  All cars must have shut off switch to fuel pump.  Contact track or tech inspectors if you need assistance.
 ADDITIONAL SAFETY REGULATIONS MAY BE IMPOSED BEFORE ANY EVENT.  ALL DRIVERS MUST COMPLY.
 ELIGIBILITY: American made passenger cars that are Front Wheel Drive automobiles.  NO convertibles or two seat coupes.  No foreign automobilesMust be listed under domestic cars in parts catalog.  No car newer than year 1999. Neons are allowed but NO performance parts are allowed.
 NO RACING MODIFICATIONS WHATSOEVER!
 CAR BODY & FRAME: The body and frame must be of the same make/model/year of vehicle being used.  It must remain factory stock including wheel wells.  Drivers door may be gutted but must retain door hinges and supports for clearance of roll cages.  May use 1” x 2” square tubing for rub rails.  Must retain factory full metal panels.  Cars must have full floors, trunk, and rear packing shelf firewall. May remove dash but must be stock steering column with no modifications.
 Skirting & ground effects must be min 6”.  All doors must be welded shut.  Frame height must remain factory for year and type of car. NO EXCEPTIONS.  NO spoilers.
 INTERIOR: The front/rear firewall and floor pans must be original and in factory stock location. NO MODIFICATIONS. Any hole openings must be covered with metal.  All upholstery fabric must be removed including back seat. RACE SEAT IS MANDATORY.   All interior supports must remain in factory stock location.  You must have a 5-point belt system.  Shoulder, seat and crotch belt mandatory installed in car for tech. approval.  Belts must be 96 or newer.
 FRONT/REAR DECK LIDS: Cannot be altered in anyway.  Must have full metal panels.  NO vents, scoops, or spoilers.  Hood pins or seat belt fasteners (see tech inspector) must be installed on both deck lids. 
 BUMPERS : ALL ROOKIES must have rear bumpers painted yellow.  Must be of same make/model/year of car being used.  Cannot be reinforced or have anything added to them.  An external tow hook capable of supporting the weight of the car is required for front & rear.  Cars must have a factory grill in reasonable condition at all times.
 LIGHTS: Headlights, taillights, and parking lights must be removed and holes filled in.
 CHROME: All exterior chrome trim with the exception of window moldings must be removed.  No rear or side view mirrors.
 WINDSHIELD/SIDE GLASS: Must have factory glass or Lexan windshields are highly recommended and will be mandatory in 08.  No side or rear windows. Quarter window optional.
 ROLL BARS: Should be four post cage type.  Four post type should have min. 2 drivers door side bars at a height to protect drivers legs and torso from side impact.  Roll bar  tubing  minimum outside diameter O.D. is 1 ¾”.  Min. thickness .095 mild steel.  Base of uprights must be solidly welded to frame rails.  Roll cage must stay within drivers compartment.  Not past front or rear wheel wells.  1/8” steel plate recommended on drivers side door.
(Must have at least a single roll bar behind seat with diagonal bars to the floor – front or rear.)

 SUSPENSION/BRAKES: All suspension components must remain factory stock manufactured in factory stock location for make/model/year of car.  NO alterations of A-frames, sway bars, ball joints, etc.  NO after-market racing springs or shocks.  One shock or strut per wheel.  NO lowering or lifting blocks. NO long shackles, load bolts, or spring adjusters.  NO racing type proportioning valves.  NO coil overs or air shocks. Brakes shall be OEM as equiped, operating all (4) Four Corners.  Cars must pass a brake test at anytime. No cutting, lowering or heating of springs. Drilled rotors are optional BUT MUST be purchased from Greber Machine & Tool. 
 TIRES & WHEELS:   55, 60, 65, 70, 75 or 80 series street tire must be used on all Four Corners and cannot be more than 8" measured width.  Any brand tire may be used but MUST bear DOT number.  All tires must have tread on them. NO CHEMICAL SOAKING OF TIRE WILL BE PERMITTED.  NO shaving of tire.   14” Hoosier 790 tires will be available and allowed 23.0/7.0/14. You may run the DOT tires, or 1 to 4 Hoosiers.  Factory stock wheels only, NO after market.  Wheels must be all 13", 14", or 15".  NO MIXING SIZES. NO STAGGERING. This means 185s with 185s and 195s with 195s etc. Wheel center may not be moved or spaced out.  Recommend right front wheel have a double center. All 4 wheels MUST have same diameter and off set. Right front wheel can only be cambered up to 5 degrees with driver in car. Directional tires are allowed. No recaps. Rims must be the same off set.
 ENGINES: Must be the same as was available for make/model of car and must be in factory stock location with original stock engine mounts.  All engines must retain all components that came with car.  NO MODIFICATIONS OR RACING COMPONENTS WHATSOEVER.  Four or Six cylinder engines only. Maximum cyl. bore is .30 over. engine size as follows: GM 3.1L, GM 3100, FORD 3.0L, and Chrysler 3.0L.  No turbo charge engines will be permitted.   No polishing or porting of engine parts. Stock intake and exhaust manifolds for year make & model of car only.  Four cylinders must be a maximum of 155 cu. inPistons must match year make and model of car, NO alterations to rods.
GM 3100 ENGINES ARE ALLOWED.

TECH INSPECTION: Any Car may be inspected after any feature event for displacement.  This inspection will be performed before prizes are awarded.  Any car/driver not passing inspection shall forfeit all prizes and may not be permitted to compete for two weeks and until such inspection can be passed. Repeated cheating will result in suspensions and/or fines as well. Anyone found blatantly cheating will result in lose of points for the entire season.
PROTESTING: Any driver may protest another driver in their division as long as they have raced a minimum of 3 times at Sandusky Speedway. The first two weeks, there will be no protesting. Also, drivers must protest 15 minutes prior to the start of the feature to the Race Director or Head Tech Inspector. NO EXCEPTIONS!
 DECISIONS OF THE OFFICIALS ARE FINAL!
 CARBURETOR/FUEL INJECTION/FUEL: Carburetor/Fuel injection must remain factory stock for year/make/model of car.  NO MODIFICATIONS! 4 cylinders may run a 6.2 mm throttle body. No porting or polishing of throttle body.
 NO AVIATION FUEL or ALOCHOL PERMITTED! RACING FUEL IS PERMITTED.
 EXHAUST: Must be factory stock configuration from manifold for year/make/model of car being used and tailpipes must exit behind driver. Catalytic converter may be removed.  Mufflers are not mandatory.  Must meet 98 decibel limit. Exhaust can be 2 ½” , No exhaust tips
 NO MODIFICATIONS! NO RACING HEADERS!
 STARTER/ALTERNATOR/BATTERY: Factory stock production starter only.  No lightweight starters.  All cars must have working alternator and must be hooked up at all times.  Battery may remain under the hood or may be moved into driver's compartment or truck but must be mounted in a PLASTIC MARINE TYPE BOX in case of rollover.  Battery must be securely mounted down with 2 metal straps in opposing directions. NO RUBBER OR WIRE TIE DOWNS!  Battery installation will be rigidly inspected.
 RADIATORS: Must be in good condition and have stock drip bottle attached to radiator at all times for overflow protection.  NO anti-freeze allowed.  If found with anti-freeze, will be required to start tail in all races for two weeks, AND WILL BE FINED $50.
 TRANSMISSION:  Factory stock year/make/model automatic transmissions only with converter and no alterations.  Must have at least 3 working forward gears and 1 reverse and use factory stock gear selector.  NO SHIFTER RODS. NO STANDARD TRANSMISSIONS. NO AFTERMARKET TORQUE CONVERTER
 FUEL TANK:  Must have 2 additional safety straps wrapped from frame to frame or have fuel tank mounted in trunk on platform welded to frame or floor panel. May run fuel cell, but it must be mounted in trunk, per tech inspection. WEIGHT: NO ADDITIONAL WEIGHT OF ANY KIND WILL BE PERMITTED ON THE CAR.
 PAINTING/NUMBERS: Numbers must be used  (extra letters and/or numbers; 77x, 77r, 77.5 etc.) will not be permitted. All cars must be neat in appearance & neatly lettered.  They must look like a racecar. Badly wrecked cars must be straightened.  Numbers must be painted on both sides and on the ROOF of the car.  Numbers must be readable from the right side, minimum 24" in height with a 4” stripe width in a color offering excellent contrast to the color of the car.  ALSO, a 6" number with either a 4 or 6 cyl. in yellow must be located on the upper right side - passenger side of the windshield.
**Driver Radios are mandatory. Drivers have 2 weeks after racing starts to obtain one. Many companies offer remanufactured ones for under $50.00.
 NOTICE:  Please read the above rules very carefully.  Keep in mind this is a stock entry-level division racing for a trophy and it’s up to everyone to keep it that way.  If your car is built by these rules, you should have no trouble.  Always ask a tech inspector before you proceed! TRACK OFFICIALS HAVE THE RIGHT TO MODIFY OR TAKE THINGS AWAY FROM A COMPETITOR AT MAKE THE FIELD COMPETITIVE AT ANY TIME. THE USE OF ANY TRACTION CONTROL DEVICE  i.e. MSD GOLDEN EAGLE ect. WILL RESULT IN LOSE OF POINTS FOR THE ENTIRE SEASON 4-Wheeler RIDING!!! All 4-Wheelers MUST have car number on the sides and the back of machine.  2010 SANDUSKY SPEEDWAY STREET STOCK RULES 
IMPORTANT NOTICE: The following specifications have been prepared by the Sandusky Speedway officials for the construction of Sandusky Speedway Pure Stock cars.  No express or implied warranty of safety shall result from publications of or compliance with rules.  They are intended as a guide and are in no way a guarantee against injury or death to participants, spectators or others.  No equipment will be considered as having been approved by reason of having passed through inspection unobserved.  Anything not covered by these guidelines should be approved and be placed in writing.  Tech Inspector will have the final decision.
 NOTICE: These rules have been developed for the fun of racing in a low cost fashion.  This requires limits in various areas to keep competition equal and fair for all participants.  In order to accomplish this if it doesn’t say you can – DON’T.  With the help and consideration of the participants, this can be accomplished.  Try to live within the spirit of the rules.  If you have questions, please contact track officials before you are found illegal for competition.
Any car deemed to be unsafe by track officials will not be allowed to compete.
1)    Car Body and Frame
a)  American passenger car with 108-inch wheel base minimum (with a 1” tolerance), full frame or uni-body and must be left stock. Camaros. Firebirds and no Nova rear leaf springs will not be eligible to run.
b)    Due to shortage of used cars, you can use aftermarket firewall and floor pan. this means only 20GA. steel is to be used in the construction of the firewall and floor pan. the drivers compartment may also be boxed in with the 20GA. STEEL ONLY
      
c)    No jeeps, trucks, station wagons, convertibles, vans, four wheel drive cars, or front wheel drive cars,
d)      All doors must be welded.
e)      Front cross member must remain stock and in stock location.  No modifications permitted.
f)        Frames must be stock as from the factory for year/make/model car being used, from front bumper to 4”
behind rear tires with optional tubing replacing remainder of frame to rear bumper.  Mainframe rails may be X
for support, and rusted portions may be plated.  Frame cannot be altered for fuel pump clearance. 
NO OTHER MODIFICATIONS WHATSOEVER!  Frame height minimum 6” should be measured from the ground to the bottom of the entire mainframe rail.  NO TOLERANCE!  Note; Unibody frame cars must be factory for year/make/model car being used in front and back with one exception.  Front and rear frame sections may be tied together with tubing.
g)      Frame may be notched for bigger radiator.
h)       Minimum roof height is 50”.
2.   Appearance
a)     All cars must be factory stock or 5 star steel bodies.  No interchange of sheet                  metal.
b)       All cars must be neat in appearance, neatly lettered, and look like a racecar.
c)        Badly wrecked cars must be fixed.
d)       After market nosepiece and tail are allowed.
e)        No spoilers.
     f)        Fiberglass, aluminum or stock hoods. MUST LOOK STOCK.
3. Windshields and Glass
a)      All side and rear glass removed.
b)      Stock windshield with straps or approved lexan.
c)      All plastic or glass lenses front and rear must be removed.
d)      No rear windows.
e)      No vent windows
f)        No window deflectors
g)      Must have approved window opening for safety. Quarter window is allowed.
 4.    Hoods and Trunks
a)      Hoods and trunks may be gutted.  Hood MUST have a handle to assist for opening.
b)      4-6 pins must be installed.  (See Tech Inspector.)
c)      Cars must have all holes in firewall filled front and rear.
 5)   Bumpers and Grill
a)      You may place two chains between bumper and frame to hold bumper on.
b)      No Camaro or aluminum bumpers (only if covered).
c)      All cars must have tow chain front and rear securely fastened.
 6.      Interior
a)      All upholstery fabric must be removed
b)      Racing seat required.  Seat must be mounted with no less than 4 bolts of 5/16-inch diameter (or larger) and grade 8 material.  Two bolts must securely fasten seat to the seat support bar near the shoulders.  See figure 1.
c)   Can use 20 gauge steel to box in driver compartment.
 7.      Suspension
a)      Front and rear upper and lower control arms must be stock to car and in stock location. After market bushings may be used. NO modifications to upper or lower control arms or mounting points. Tubilur upper must run UBM 14-0809-5 right side/UBM 14-0829-6 left side, must have part number on A-frame.
b)      After market spring may be used.  Must be in stock location. Load bolts in rear, front adjustable shims in front optional. 
c)      No rubbers are allowed. 
d)      Stock sway bars must be used to make of car and mounted in stock location. Stock OEM steering box only. Stock OEM tie rods only and center link must be OEM stock to car.
e)        Stock four wheel-working brakes.  Must stop wheel.  No bias valves. No adjusters. Duel master cylinders allowed. Two-piece stock appearing rotors allowed. NO oversized or undersized rotors. 5 on 5 bolt pattern may be used. Metric cars must run metric spindles & rotors. No bias gauges. Proportioning valve may be used for back brakes only, if using single master cylinder and must be outside driver compartment. Can only be adjusted front to rear in non racing competition, other than that must be out of the driver compartment during racing.
f)      No rear disc brakes. No double piston calipers, NO aluminum calipers, NO undersized or oversized calipers to be used at all.
g)      Shocks must be mounted in stock to car location.  NO spacers may be used anywhere. NO heim or monotube shocks
h)        Shocks must be steel and not adjustable.  
i)        Stock to car OEM spindles and rotors. Metric on metric, GM on GM, Ford on Ford and so on. NO drop spindles allowed.
      j)        Track width, small metric 76 max, full size 77 max.
8.      Weight
a)      Minimum weight 3300 lbs. with driver in the car.  Added weight must be welded or bolted to car. A 305 Block 40 should have a minimum weight of 2880.  (9.3 lbs. per cu. in.)
b)      Maximum 55% left side weight with driver.
c)      Minimum 51% front weight with driver.
d)      All ballast weight must be mounted to frame or floorboards.  No weight on any control arm or axle.  No weight under frame rails between axles.  Weight behind wheels may not be below line of axle. Weight must be painted white and numbered.
 9.      Engines
a)      Centerline of engine must be of equal distance from left and right frame rails. No 18 degree motors or heads
b)      Engine must be US factory production, cast iron block, heads, intake, exhaust. 7 quart max oil pan, must fit chassis NO notching of frame. No modifications allowed.  No vortex heads or angle plug heads.  World Product Head # 4266A and RHS head #12317 will be permitted out of box – no modifications made. Guide plates and stud girdles are allowed.
c)      Flat top pistons only.  May not be above deck height.
d)     OEM Two-barrel cast iron intake manifold only, NO modifications. NO 3” manifolds.  No exhaust spacers.  Center dumps not to exceed 2 ½”. Hydraulic camshaft and hydraulic lifters only.  Stock lifter bores.  No roller cams.  No roller lifters. . Roller rockers are allowed can go as high as 7/16 studs. No high rise 2 bl intakes. No shaft type roller rocker systems.
e)      Engine sizes: GM engines 350 C.I. plus .060 maximum over bore (NO 400 block).  Ford engines 351 C.I. plus .060 maximum over bore.  Mopar engines 360 C.I. plus .060 maximum over bore. No strocker motors, stock stroke only. Steel crankshafts NOT to be UNDER 48 lbs.
f)        Exhaust pipes not to exceed 2 ½” OD and must exit behind driver.  No 2 into 1 mufflers.
g)      Must meet 98 decibel limit
h)      Engine must be in stock location for that year and model car. No notching frame for fuel pump 
10.  Carburetor
a)      Stock production two-barrel only.  Must fit two-barrel intake manifold. Choke plate may be removed. NO AIR FUEL MIXTURE GAUGES AT ALL.
b)  Cold air boxes may NOT protrude through the hood.
c)      Must have two springs to return throttle.
d)      Holley #4412 ONLY (NO Rochester) with 1 inch placer plate ONLY, out of box, NO modifications what so ever to stock metering block for 4412 only, can only remove choke plates
e)      Carburetors must pass gauge test – top and bottom. NO modifications to venturists must have ram air horn on carb.
 11.  Battery Alternator and Ignition
a)      Battery may remain secured in engine compartment.  If moved to drivers compartment, must be mounted inside plastic marine box secured by two metal straps.  May not be mounted in trunk.
b)   No after market distributors unless stock appearing.  No dual point distributors.  No spark boxes. No magnetos. NO modules with adjustable rev limiter with traction control with tack lead-any found will be d.q. ONLY 3 wires coming out of distributor to cap NO 4 wires allowed and only 2 wires coming out of cap power and tack.
c.)   Alternator optional.
 12) Radiator
a)      Must be in good condition and have a minimum 1-gallon overflow can.
b)      Must have fan shroud at least upper 180 degrees.
c)      Electric fans may be used.
d)      NO ANTI FREEZE. IF FOUND WILL BE FINED $50.00. This will be enforced!
 13.   Transmission and Drive Line
a)      Transmission must be approved OEM Automatic with original bell housing and functional torque converter. Metal blanket recommended or 3 or 4 speed manual Saginaw only, with all working gears. Steele blow proof bell housing only. No aluminum. No after market trans or exotic units. NO aluminum trans
b)      No locking of converter. Single disc clutch no smaller than 10.5 inches. No triple disc. Steel fly wheel only, no aluminum no modifications.
c)      Locked rear ends are mandatory.  Mini-spool or welded only, NO lockers or Gold Tracks. NO cambering of rear end at all.
d)      Drive shaft hoops front and rear must be installed.
e)      Ford 9 inch rear end allowed. MUST use stock location upper & lower control arms, NO cutting of any trailing arms. No traction control devices of any kind, IF FOUND USED WILL BE DQ AND LOSE ALL POINTS FOR THE YEAR. No off set of rear end housing.
f.)     No fiberglass or aluminum drive shafts – all steel !!
g.)    5 degree pinion angle max. NO exceptions.
14.   Tires and Wheels
a)      Maximum 8-inch steel wheel of same diameter.
b)      The only acceptable tire is the Hoosier Commanche.  Not to exceed 27.5 x 8 x 15.
c)      Wheels must fit within wheel wells.
d)      No air bleeder valves in wheels.
       e)     Track width, small metric 76, full size 77
15.   Gas Tank
a)      Fuel cells mandatory. Fuel cell must be mounted in trunk and secured to frame by at least 2- 1” steel straps no lowers than center section of rear end.
b)      Racing fuel may be used.  No alcohol.  No additives.
 16.    Safety Items
a)  RADIO MANDATORY.  ONE-WAY RECEIVER ONLY.  ANY COMMUNICATIONS BETWEEN PIT CREW AND DRIVE WILL RESULT IN COMPLETE DISQUALIFICATION AND LOSS OF POINTS FOR THE SEASON.
b)               Roll cage
1)         Minimum four-post cage with 1-3/4 inch by .095 inch wall thickness may pass through firewall.  Diagonal side-to-side bracing.  See figure 2.       
2)         Front and rear hoops may be used.
3)         Must have steel support bar behind driver. 
4)         Extra brace bars recommended behind driver.  May pass through firewall.
5)         Must have a 1/8-inch steel plate between door skin and sidebars.
6)         Minimum of 3-drive side door bars, one bar in passenger side.
7)         Gas tank protection bar mandatory.
c)    Competition shoulder harness and seat belts must be installed to technical inspectors approval.  Seat belts - less than 5 years old - and shoulder harnesses of the 5-point variety must be used and should be bolted to the roll cage structure.  If bolted to the floor of the car use original set belt-mounting plates.   Upper end of the should harness must be securely fastened to metal supports at a point no higher than the drivers shoulders.  See figure 1 for information on installation of the seat belt.
d)   The following safety equipment is mandatory: fire suit, full coverage helmet. 2005 Snell helmet and fire retardant gloves.  Fireproof shoes are strongly recommended.
e)   Open face helmet must wear goggles.
f)    Dry chemical fire extinguisher 2-1/2 lb. minimum in working order must be mounted within easy reach of driver
g)   Drivers side window net mandatory, must be mounted to cage not to body panels.
h.)   Also, any driver that has to be transported will have their car impounded for safety precautions.       
 17.    Misc.
a)      All cars must have contrasting color, 2-foot square area on both sides and roof for assigned number. Roof number to face right side.
b)      Must have 4-inch car number (digits) in top center of windshield.
c)      Any items not covered should be checked with technical inspectors.
d)      All cars can be inspected or torn down at any time by technical inspectors at owner’s expense. Cars may be impounded for tech inspection at anytime.
e)  Must have a hook, chain or eyebolt welded to front and rear of the car.  If car does not have these and      must be hooked on track, you may be disqualified for the rest of the night at the discretion of track officials.
f) No mirrors.
Technical inspector decisions are final.
 The belts should not be allowed to run down your back below shoulder height before crossing through the shoulder harness slot of the seat or to permit the belt to run across the bony structure at the perimeter of the shoulder.  The shoulder belt should be routed through the holes provided in the seat and across the cage tube to provide the best control of location of the belt.
 NOTICE: Anything not covered by the preceding rules or safety regulations should be checked with Tech. Inspector before it is done.  Any decision on questionable items about cars is up to the Inspector and his decision is Final!!!
                        If you have any question as to changing or modifying or in building your car, and the rule book does not cover what you are doing, please contact a Sandusky Speedway official before making changes.  Build it right the first time.
 REMEMBER:  Sandusky Speedway and its officials reserve the right to change specifications/procedures and add/or subtract cars to the field at anytime.  Those who sign-in and/or start in an event agree to be governed by these rules and by all decisions of the Speedway and its officials. Track officials reserve the right to confiscate any part or parts deemed by their officials to be outside the rules, this includes any part of the race car at anytime.
  THE USE OF ANY TRACTION CONTROL DEVICE  i.e. MSD GOLDEN EAGLE ect. WILL RESULT IN LOSE OF POINTS FOR THE ENTIRE SEASON
